Coretta Scott, Not Just the Wife of Martin Luther King Jr....

People probably only know Coretta by being the wife of Martin Luther King Jr. But what about the important things she did for this country? Coretta put her life in danger for believing what she supported and was right. Mrs. King also had programs to stay together with the community. She supported other people’s beliefs and doing that gave some people motivation that anything is possible. People also have to give her credit for even being Martin Luther King Jr.’s wife. His family had to go through a lot with him being an African American trying to change history. With that being said, now on our time people don’t go to that person and talk about them, everybody knows they bash to the family even more. Coretta Scott was the same for Martin Luther King Jr. As Martin Luther King Jr. put his life in danger, she also put her life in danger for supporting him. During The Montgomery Bus Boycott, Martin King Jr. lead marches in many cities, while Coretta was by him inspiring citizens to defy the segregation laws (Academy of Achievement). Many times, the family would get threats from people to get them to stop or move out of town. After the Civil Rights Movement, â€Å"white supremacists bombed the King family home in Montgomery, they barely escaped the home without injury† (Academy of Achievement). As our generation now women would’ve left their husband because they do not know the reason for marriage. Coretta went to hell and high water for Martin King Jr. There was much gossip about Martin beyond the life of his family. Even though Martin was cheating, Coretta knew that being married to Martin Luther King Jr. wasn’t going to be an easy task. Coretta saw it as challenges to get over and believed something better will ha ppen the next day. It takes a strong woman to admit that things are going badly, but they have to realize that the world is not easy place to make decisions.
